What an epic race! The Pure Pit Wall correctly predicted a superb 1-2 finish (HAM, ROS) for the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team.
Race winner Lewis Hamilton was successful start to finish at the Mexican Grand Prix, after he began from pole position and led most of the 71-lap race. This was Lewis’ 51st career race win making him now the second most successful driver in F1, tied with Alain Prost.
MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS driver Nico Rosberg had an unlucky start as he came in contact with Max Verstappen, but managed to make up the time and cross the finish line in P2. This double result gave the team its fourth consecutive Silver Arrows 1-2 and sixth of the season to-date.
Contrary to last year’s two-stop winning strategy, Lewis only pitted once on Lap 17 to exchange his soft compound tyres for a set of mediums. He also secured the fastest pit lane time with a 21.7s stop. Great job team!
There were three laps under the safety car at the 2016 Mexican Grand Prix, as opposed to five laps in 2015.
Following another 1-2 finish, the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team (679) now lead Red Bull (427) by 252 points with just two races to go. In the Drivers’ Championship, Lewis (330) closed in on Nico (349) and trails by just 19 points.
