We recently marked a new milestone for Pure Storage® in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) by opening the doors to our new ANZ headquarters in Melbourne. Joining us were:  Philip Dalidakis MP, Victorian Minister for Innovation and the Digital Economy; customers; and partners such as Cisco, Cirrus Networks, and Dimension Data.

Since starting our operations in ANZ in 2013, our company has increased in size and strength. The opening of the new office follows a significant period of disruption within the enterprise-flash storage industry. While other players around us have faltered or been swallowed up whole, Pure has maintained a laser focus on growth and expansion.

In August, we made our first acquisition with StorReduce, to help our customers execute on their data-centric architecture ambitions. As a point of pride for Australia and New Zealand, StorReduce started life as an Australian company, and the company’s co-founders are an Australian and a New Zealander.

Our growing presence in ANZ has been driven by the region’s willingness to adopt emerging technologies. There is a voracious appetite for machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives. Leaders across Australia believe data, which fuels machine learning and AI, is the foundation for making business decisions and delivering key results for customers.

In March this year, the Victorian government launched an all-party parliamentary group to consider the policy challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence. The group – the first of its kind in Australia – was established by Philip Dalidakis and Shadow Minister David Southwick. It was an important step in safeguarding Australia’s economic future with AI, representing a significant opportunity for the economy.

With our ANZ headquarters based in the heart of Melbourne, Australia’s tech capital, we are strategically positioned to empower current and future customers to put their data to work by unleashing the power of emerging technologies.

Over the course of our time in ANZ, we’ve been particularly successful in the state of Victoria. We’ve worked with a number of high-profile customers including Melbourne University, Collingwood FC, and Deakin University, and we look forward to adding some of the region’s most innovative and forward-thinking enterprises to this list. Our future in Melbourne, and ANZ, is bright. And orange.
