The state of Texas is leading the pack when it comes to innovation – and Pure is enabling public sector and education organizations to modernize their IT infrastructures to optimize efficiency and transform service delivery. Through this modernization, our customers are equipped to continue moving Texas forward as they provide exceptional services for the citizens and students of Texas.

VIA Metropolitan Transit Expands Public Transportation

As San Antonio, Texas, one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, continues to expand, its public transportation system is focused on working quickly and efficiently to develop a quality and sustainable mass transportation system that prioritizes customers. VIA Metropolitan Transit is responsible for transportation services across San Antonio and is driving the region forward by delivering better bus systems, smart transit solutions, advanced rapid transit systems, and efficient customer communication.

“VIA operates and tracks 800 vehicles each day – and collects millions of data points that need to be processed and made available in order to maintain customer-facing applications and services,” said Steve Young, Vice President of Technology and Innovation at VIA Metropolitan Transit. “Since implementing Pure, we have been able to transform the customer experience by supporting mobile payments, schedules, and arrival/delay information accurately and in real-time. To enable ridership to trend upwards, these are the functions we need to offer, and Pure enables us to do that,” added Young.

Texas State University Operations Rely on Fast and Efficient Technology

Pure is also enhancing the experience for students across the state of Texas. At public and private universities alike, Pure is allowing institutions to provide fast, efficient, and reliable technology and IT infrastructure

An institution of nearly 40,000 students, Texas State University prides itself on an exceptional student experience. In today’s environment, technology touches nearly every piece of a university’s operation – from WiFi and student portals to data backup and records management, technology has the ability to greatly influence the experience.

“Student registration is one of the most important pieces of our operation – for both students, faculty, and administration,” said Mark Hughes, Associate VP, Technology Resources at Texas State University. “Since implementing Pure, we have been able to speed up the process and create a seamless experience for students registering for classes,” added Hughes. “Additionally, we’ve been able to leverage the Pure environment to clone production databases into a separate physical database server to function as a data store. This process resulted in both a cost savings for the university and gave our IT staff back significant time,” said Hughes.

Pure partners help make this innovation possible. Pure will also be welcoming our valued partner ecosystem to our Global Partner Forum at Pure//Accelerate. Austin-based Freeit Data Solutions is focused on helping companies better manage and protect their data. When architecting data center solutions for customers such as the City of Austin, Texas Medicaid and Health, and Travis County, Pure Storage is a ‘go-to’ storage platform.

“Customers don’t want to worry about storage – and Pure offers phenomenal support and performance,” said Wayne Orchid, President and CEO, Freeit Data Solutions. “In order to keep Texas customers innovating, we need strong solutions that allow them to focus on their core business, rather than managing storage.”
