What a successful Italian Grand Prix! The Pure Pit Wall correctly predicted the top three drivers in Monza (ROS, HAM, VET) as the title race is now closer than ever.
MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team driver Nico Rosberg completed a fantastic race to cross the finish line in P1 for his seventh win of the season, ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton, who finished P2 after starting the race in pole position. The MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team clinched its fourth 1-2 finish of the season. Well done!
The MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team executed a one stop strategy, as Nico boxed on lap 24 to change from the Soft to Medium compound tyres. Lewis, who found himself in sixth place at the first corner from the race start and who was also on a one stop strategy, overtook a number of drivers to finish the race in P2.
The Italian Grand Prix saw a number of overtaking opportunities, primarily on turns one and four, which contributed to the total of 68 overtakes during the race (27 overtakes in 2015) with just 27 happening under DRS (drag reduction system). The MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team also successfully recorded the Fastest Pit Lane Time (23.6s). Great job team!
The result of this race means that Lewis Hamilton (250) is now just 2 points clear of Nico Rosberg (248) at the top of the Drivers’ Championship, while in the Constructors’ Championship, the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team (498) gained more points on Red Bull Racing (290), and the gap now stands at 208 points.
