Pure Storage is honored to be included on the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s Best Places to Work in the Bay Area list for the fourth consecutive year. Pure was awarded 1st place this year in the Large Company category!
Pure was in good company, our category included 40 top companies from the Bay Area, such as Splunk and Eventbrite. There are many reasons that Pure won this award, but here are a few that stick out. Pure is disrupting the enterprise storage market and people want to join us on this journey. We have a collaborative culture and transparent leadership. Our employees are attracted to this type of environment and it allows everyone to take a sense of ownership and contribute to the company’s success. A couple of Pure employees even purchased out of their own pockets what is known as the “Nandrover” (see below) to help them spread the Pure message to data centers across the country. Individual and company performance is frequently recognized with awards and perks. At times, a successful quarter of business has even led to hair loss, meaning the CEO and a Pure investor lost a bet regarding what could be achieved in a quarter and both had to shave their heads in front of the entire company when the target goal was surpassed. Additionally, Pure hosts an annual Club Trip, which rewards top performers in the company and all Puritans are eligible to attend, unlike many companies who only reward the sales team.
Pure also fosters an environment of fun, whether you love to play video games or prefer to cruise around the office on a scooter. In true Pure culture there are also many nerf guns available to ambush your colleagues on a seconds notice. It’s also a fact that there is an endless amount of snacks, so it’s impossible to go hungry at a Pure office. Additionally, Pure’s unlimited vacation is a great perk that ensures employees work hard and also take the necessary time off to recharge. We also take the time to give back to our community. In 2014, Pure employees (individual employee contributions, not Pure Storage company funds) raised more than $37K for a local charity, Project Night Night, which provides care packages filled with blankets, books and stuffed animals to homeless children. Likewise, in 2014 Pure employees devoted 450 hours and more than 550 bikes to Turning Wheels for Kids, which provides new bikes to kids to encourage healthy habits.
A unique benefit Pure employees enjoy is the level of transparency provided; everyone has access the same information and the knowledge to make the right decisions for the company. Pure also encourages everyone to bring new ideas to the table and be open to new ways of thinking. We also focus on creating career growth opportunities for all employees, including our sales and technical training programs for interns and recent graduates.
With our one of a kind culture, experienced leadership and amazing benefits, Pure has been able to attract and retain top talent. Our employees are the real key to our success and we are thrilled to be able to recognize and thank them with this award!
Pure is a fast growing company and always looking for talented and passionate people to join our team. Share this win across the globe and help us #PaintItOrange!
