VMworld in San FranciscoVMware’s Ray O’Farrell started Tuesday morning’s VMworld general session with a focus on how organizations can get the most from their technology: “There’s an urgency, a pressure, for leaders to say ‘how do I best leverage technology?’” From there it was a buffet of VMware execs addressing four key enterprise challenges:

How do you…

  • build and run the applications?
  • secure the applications?
  • manage applications and infrastructure?
  • make sure customers and employees have the best experience with the tech?

After demos for breakfast, COO Sanjay Poonen returned to the VMworld stage in role of interviewer. He changed the subject from technology to inspiration with Lindsey Vonn, the top US skier of all time, and Steve Young, Pro Football Hall of Famer. The conversation focused on their drive to succeed in their athletic careers—and now their drive to help others through philanthropic efforts.

I really liked Vonn’s perspective on preparation and focus in her response to the question of how she basically threw herself down mountains without fear:

“When I was in the starting gate, I always knew what I was capable of because I’d done the work.”
—Lindsey Vonn

Tuesday was a busy day for our teams. Pure Storage® was honored to have two groups from Japan visit the booth for presentations today. And our speakers had plenty of people to talk to, whether in the booth, breakout sessions, or The Square. It’s great to see all of the energy around Pure technology and solutions.

VMworld Quote of the Day

“We all have an opportunity. It’s not just how successful we are, but how successful we can help others become.”
