The Pure Storage team will soon be heading to the ‘Imagine Intuitive’ themed Cisco Live event, held over January 28–1 February in Barcelona. We’ve worked closely with Cisco for many years with the joint goal of enabling customers to put data at the center of their strategy. At the event we will be showcasing a host of technologies and solutions, jointly designed with Cisco.

Among these technologies is our FlashStack™ solution, one of the fastest adopted converged infrastructure solutions in the market, jointly developed with Cisco. FlashStack facilitates the creation of a data-centric architecture, enabling customers to modernise their infrastructure, benefit from the economics and scalability of on-demand storage on-prem and in the cloud, and brings the power of all-flash storage to the entire Cisco UCS powered data centre.

We’re always looking to improve and expand upon our FlashStack offering. That’s why we’re pleased to announce that we will be jointly offering a new FlashStack for artificial intelligence applications, designed to deliver end-to-end analytics for an AI data pipeline. This is an integrated solution for production-grade AI deployments built on best-of-breed components that is delivered, implemented and supported by experienced FlashStack resellers. FlashStack for AI combines the Cisco UCS C480ML compute with the scalability of Pure’s FlashBlade, packaged in the FlashStack platform. In a blog, Maggie Smith and Francoise Rees, of Cisco’s UCS solution marketing team, highlighted why FlashStack for AI will be the ideal fit for data scientists, giving them a converged infrastructure that delivers:

  • A validated architecture for AI workloads that reduces the design risks in building a data, compute, and storage infrastructure for AI workloads
  • A solution that scales with agility- only deploy the compute and the storage required for the AI workload at hand
  • Best of breed software applications for AI workloads -Ingest, Analyze, Access at Massive Scale

In addition to the great work we’re doing with FlashStack, we’re pleased to extend our collaboration with Cisco even further, to jointly develop an API-first strategy. Never has it been more important to recognise the importance of strong APIs. APIs are critical in ensuring a successful cloud service and are also the best way to drive and automate infrastructure.

As part of this we’re the first third-party storage vendor to integrate with Cisco Intersight, a cloud-based systems management platform. At the event we will be showcasing how our offering can manage and orchestrate fully converged data centre solutions. For example, in under three weeks, a developer with no prior knowledge of Pure was able to develop a connector that enables Intersight to orchestrate monitoring, provisioning and manage snapshots. This allows for automated storage provisioning, and also management of Pure Storage functionality via the orchestration capability of Intersight. It is part of a self-service catalogue for driving automation across compute, network and storage. We’re positive our customers will love the simplicity and efficiency of our integrated API-first strategy, delivering the confidence to build and manage clouds on our infrastructure.

Rounding off on new developments, Cisco has unveiled a brand-new Cisco Validated Design (CVD) for FlashStack, bringing all the benefits of an all-flash, converged infrastructure storage solution to SAP HANA TDI. Additional insight to follow, so watch this space.

We look forward to sharing all of our latest joint projects with you at Cisco Live. As a Cisco Preferred Solution Provider, we have collaborated with Cisco for many years, providing organisations with best-in-class solutions to gain the most value from their data.
