What a superb 1-2 finish! The Pure Pit Wall correctly predicted the podium finishers (HAM, ROS, RIC) at the United States Grand Prix, the third consecutive MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team United States Grand Prix 1-2 finish.
MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team driver Lewis Hamilton had a great start from pole position cruising to his 50th career win. This was also his third consecutive win at the Circuit of the Americas, fourth at Austin and 5th at the United States Grand Prix.
His teammate, MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team driver Nico Rosberg had a solid race to cross the line in P2 and secure the 5th Silver Arrows 1-2 of the season.
In this race, we saw the introduction of a new feature, Predicted Pit Strategies, which shows the expected pit stop lap and tyre choice for each driver. We are pleased to announce that it successfully predicted both Lewis and Nico’s strategies on its debut.
Similarly to 2015, Lewis won the race with a two-stop strategy. His first pit-stop occured on Lap 11, where he changed from Soft compound tyres to another set of Softs. He then pitted on Lap 31 for his final stint on Medium tyres. Nico’s side of the garage opted for a different strategy, choosing the Medium tyre for his first stop on Lap 10, followed by a fresh set of Mediums for his second stop on Lap 31 to take him to the finish.
The MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team (636) now leads Red Bull (400) by 236 points with just three races to go. On the other hand, the race for the Drivers’ Championship is on full throttle, with Nico (331) still leading by 26 points in front of Lewis (305) in P2.
