At Pure Good, our mantra is “Go Do Good.” Through a variety of projects, we empower our employees and nonprofit partners to build a better world. We founded Pure Good Foundation as the philanthropic arm of Pure Storage five years ago with the goal of making an impact on our global communities. Today, we’re pleased to announce the release of our first request for proposals (RFP) for $1 million (Workforce Development Grants) to support global workforce-development efforts.
Workforce development has risen to prominence as an area where we have a unique opportunity to bring our resources of time, money, and social networks to help those who want to reskill or upskill their careers to access living-wage jobs in the tech sector. We also believe that by supporting the training of diverse populations, we can help increase much-needed diversity in the sector, bringing more BIPOC and women to roles where diverse thinking and experience will improve business outcomes.
Pure embarked on making an impact in this area with initial partnerships with nonprofits such as NPower, which creates pathways to economic prosperity by launching digital careers for military veterans and young adults from underserved communities. NPower’s Director of Strategic Partnerships, Matt Velez says, “Pure Storage has helped our nontraditional talent pool to become ready for careers in tech—from hosting groups to learn more about tech companies to their CISO guest lecturing on cybersecurity. We are grateful for their commitment to diversifying the talent pool in tech.”

What Is the Offer?
- The grant: A total of $1 million will be divided between and granted to as many nonprofit organizations as we select from those that apply to this RFP.
- The funds: One-year unrestricted cash grants will be awarded to eligible global nonprofit organizations. We’ll allocate the awarded funds quarterly and issue the full grant by June 30, 2021.
- Volunteerism: Grantees will work with Pure Good Foundation to create and/or provide volunteer opportunities for Pure Storage employees.
- Resource building: Grantees will have networking opportunities with other grant recipients to share knowledge and create connections to better serve clients. Additionally, if a grantee needs specific assistance within their organization, they will be able to request expert guidance from a Pure Storage employee.
Who Is Eligible?
- US-based: 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations or organizations supported by a 501(c)3 fiduciary organization that are within 25 miles of a Pure Storage office; and,
- Outside US-based: Organizations should follow country-specific nonprofit organization eligibility requirements, the primary service location should be within 25 miles of a Pure Storage office; who:
- Provide training and opportunity for career advancement for adults (18+) from minority populations and/or those from nontraditional education to career paths.
- **Special attention will be given to organizations primarily led by women and members of the Black, Indigenous, LatinX, and other minority communities of color.
- All funds will be disbursed through the online platform, Benevity. All grantees will need to be set up in Benevity as a nonprofit with the ability to receive EFT payments.
