October 2024 Recap

We’re excited to share our most recent updates for October 2024:

Better Protect Your Data

Reduce risks and enhance cybersecurity through seamless integration with services from the Pure Cyber Resiliency Alliance Network, a network of alliance partners with specific integrations designed to enhance cyber resilience across your Pure Storage platform. This includes SIEM, SOAR, and XDR integrations with security leaders like Cisco, Microsoft, LogRhythm, and others.

These integrations allow high-level logs from FlashArray™ and FlashBlade® to be exported to the security tools with the proper formatting so security analysts can set up alerts. In addition with SOAR integrations, action scripts can be triggered to create SafeMode™ Snapshots should an alarm be triggered, greatly accelerating actions to secure workloads on the array. Current partner integrations include:

  • Cisco (XDR)
  • Fortinet (SIEM)
  • IBM QRadar (SIEM & SOAR)
  • LogRhythm (SIEM & SOAR)
  • Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM & SOAR)
  • SentinelOne (XDR)
  • Splunk (SIEM & SOAR)
  • Superna (XDR)

Maximize the Value of Your Evergreen Subscription

Make more informed future planning decisions with greater visibility into Ever Modern upgrade eligibility, including components nearing end of service life, and the steps required to maximize the value of your Evergreen//Forever subscriptions. With insights into controller and blade upgrade eligibility, Pure1® helps you plan for maintenance, subscription renewals, and upgrade cycles. Avoid delays in acquiring entitled upgrades and ensure hardware remains up to date with better intelligence. This feature is available on the Asset Management, Appliance Genealogy, and Subscriptions pages in Pure1.

Upgrade and Save

Upgrade to Evergreen//Forever non-disruptively to avoid end-of-life events and realize significant cost savings compared to purchasing new arrays with the ForeverNow program. By upgrading to Evergreen//Forever, organizations can modernize their infrastructure, ensuring it remains up to date and capable of meeting future demands. Evergreen//Forever benefits include controller upgrades, trade-in credit options, capacity consolidation, and predictable pricing for subscription renewals. ForeverNow also provides pricing that is more favorable than purchasing a new array, making it a cost-effective solution for your organization. Program availability is limited to international and Canadian markets only.

Increased Transparency and Enhanced Security across the Fleet

The improved Subscriptions Summary tab on Pure1 provides Evergreen//One customers greater visibility by displaying key performance metrics like bandwidth and IOPS to assess performance relative to your service level agreements (SLAs). With these metrics, customers can make more informed decisions about scaling capacity, adding performance, or increasing licenses.

With policy-based enhanced SafeMode management, customers can harden their defenses against cyber threats, providing an additional layer of oversight and accountability. Customers with SafeMode Snapshots turned on can now select the number of approvers required to make changes, ensuring no single individual has the power to make potentially harmful decisions. By requiring multiple approvers, admins can reduce the risk of insider threats as well as simple human error.

Triage Issues Faster

Purity//FB 4.5.1 introduces On-box Diagnostics, a Purity-integrated self-diagnosis framework to address enterprise self-service goals. It is thin, available to all user categories, runs on a standby module, and does not impact system performance.

This framework uses plain-text recipes to run a quick scan or pre-upgrade health check and suggest ways to triage before reaching out to Pure Storage Support. It has a disaggregated engine and a recipe library with the option to refresh recipes and a core engine to maintain currency and coverage of new technical issues.

This in turn minimizes support delays, improves time to resolution, and further elevates customers’ enterprise support experience.

Meet the Federal Security Mandate for Encryption

The United States (US) Federal Zero Trust (ZT) Strategy established by memorandum M-22-09 requires all agencies to encrypt all DNS requests which now both Purity//FA and Purity//FB support. All federal systems must be upgraded to support DNS traffic in FY24.

Leveraging the National Security Agency (NSA) recommendation for DNS encryption, both Purity//FA and Purity//FB support DNS over HTTPS (DoH). DNS serves as a fundamental pillar for empowering enterprise IT, and its security is paramount to maintaining the overall security of the enterprise.

Upgrade to Purity//FA 6.6.8, releasing later this month, to take advantage of this and other new features!
