I’m proud to share that for the ninth straight year, Gartner has recognized Pure Storage® as A Leader. And for the third year in a row, Pure Storage is positioned highest for Ability to Execute and furthest for Completeness of Vision in the newly published 2022 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Primary Storage.
When I first evaluated Pure two years ago, I thought it was unusual to discover that a company as relatively new as Pure had taken the pole position in a core enterprise market like storage. Now I’ve learned why it has gone from startup to a Leader.
Pure is a market disruptor. First, it pioneered the designed-for-flash enterprise array–and then flash economics swept primary storage. Then Pure innovated with new as-a-service business models–and other companies followed. So it makes sense that the company that first innovated in appliance simplicity and all-flash speeds would continue innovating with the simplicity and speed that customers expect from the cloud.
From our perspective, this vision for the future–and the ability to execute on it–is validated from today’s recognition as A Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Primary Storage. On a day like today, I am incredibly grateful to call myself part of Pure.
There’s More to Do
Before Pure entered the market thirteen years ago, complexity, cost, and poor customer experience were the norm. Customers thought that the never-ending disruptive buy-and-replace cycle every few years was just to be expected. How things have changed!
The storage market stands on the cusp of another wave of disruption. As flash continues to continue the inexorable trend towards replacing spinning disk, customers will demand higher flash performance, density, and sustainability. More importantly, customers will evolve beyond individual appliances, and will demand the speed and simplicity of the cloud behind the firewall, with dynamically pooled, automated storage, everywhere.
While compute and networking have leapt ahead, storage has been held back by legacy technology and processes. To deliver on the promise of cloud anywhere, storage needs to evolve to become more like a hyperscale experience, in both automation and self-service. Today’s report demonstrates who holds that vision and who can deliver on it.
